Wren Farthing Birdcage Necklace On Long Silver Chain

Inspired by a number of pieces of trench-art, (naive art created from scraps of materials including coins and bullet casings by soldiers serving in various wars) this 1951 farthing depicting a sweet little wren has been re-homed inside this handmade birdcage.

Complete with a long silver chain to be worn low on the body and standing at around 2.5inches high, this birdcage necklace is designed as a larger, more statemental piece of jewellery. The interior of the cage is oxidised and the silver of the piece is beautifully hammered and softened with scuffs and marks left in to show off the hand crafting.
